LAUNCHING JUNE 2020

Women in Banking & Finance (WIBF) and ITN Productions Industry News will be co-producers of a news-style programme anchored by a national newsreader, produced to raise awareness of challenges for women working in the financial services sector today and the work being done to mobilise change.

Women in Banking and Finance was established 40 years ago as a support, development and inspirational network for women in a male dominated industry. In 1980 the work environment was a very different place – it was only 10 years since the 1970 Equal Pay Act, only 7 years since women in Britain could join the stock exchange and only 5 years since the Sex Discrimination Act made it illegal to discriminate against women in employment.

Investing in Equality will examine the gender-parity gap in the financial services sector today and will look at what is being done to close it. Charting the cultural change and changing legislations over the years which have improved the conditions for working women in the financial services sector, the programme will showcase the companies and individuals leading change in behaviour and strategy for fairer outcomes.

From fostering future leaders and inspiring women in the industry, to the new recruitment methods tackling the concept of the ‘missing middle’ and the female networks breaking the glass ceiling, Investing in Equality will present the innovative approaches and meaningful solutions that are driving the gender agenda.

The programme will combine key industry interviews, news items and sponsored editorial profiles and will launch at WIBF’s Awards for Achievement in June 2020. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring WIBF members and professional partners.

Vivienne Artz, President of Women in Banking and Finance, said: Women in Banking & Finance are passionate about equality of opportunity in the financial services sector, at all levels. As a national network, we seek to inspire, challenge and connect our members, so that they can be individual and institutional drivers for change for an inclusive workforce where women can achieve their full potential. Together, we can make the difference.

Vicki Clubley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions said: We are really excited by the opportunity to partner with Women in Banking and Finance to produce a programme which aims to highlight the great work being done to tackle the issue of gender imbalance for the benefit of women and business productivity.
