The bad luck associated with Friday 13th steered clear of The Dorchester for the recent Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF) annual awards.

“Winners Marion Leslie, a managing director of Thomson Reuters, HelenCooper, senior manager at KPMG and Citi’s microfinance director Safiye Ozuygun all received accolades.
Less lucky perhaps was ING’s UK chief Gerald Walker whose name was drawn as the winner of a voucher for Heidi Klein swimwear, shortly after WIBF’s Jane Campbell had cited this Rita Rudner quote: “A man will go to war and fight and die for his country but he won’t get a bikini wax”.
Gerald’s “success” in the raffle was greeted with laughs and whoops. Triumph can often be a double edged sword…”
