We’re very proud of all of our volunteers, but this week we are particularly celebrating Rachel Malik, co-chair of WIBF’s Future Leaders Shadow Board who has won a We Are The City Rising Star Award.

We’re all absolutely delighted to learn that Rachel Malik, WIBF’s co-chair of the Future Leaders Shadow Board (FLSB) is a winner of the WeAreTheCity’s #RisingStars100 in the Investment Management Category.

Rachel’s first introduction to banking was when she was 17, when she was selected to participate in the Social Mobility Foundation’s Aspiring Professional Programme that was ran in partnership with J.P. Morgan.

Rachel completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Birmingham, before studying a Masters in World Economics and Chinese Studies at Beijing University in China. In 2018 she joined Citi’s Private Bank’s graduate programme.  Rachel is now an Investment Counsellor, still at Citi Private Bank, and advises clients on investments in both public and private markets. She is passionate about ESG, climate and impact investing, as well as sitting on the Citi Private Bank Women’s steering committee, the Treasurer of the Citi UK Social Mobility Network and a One Young World Ambassador.

She also finds time to volunteer for WIBF and became co-chair of the Future Leaders Shadow Board in December 2022.

Rachel said of her win, “I am honestly shocked to be named as one of the recipients of the WeAreTheCity Rising Star Awards. I cannot thank Sarah Woodard (co-chair, FLSB) and Anna Lane (President, WIBF) enough for the nomination and the support of WIBF.

I’m also super grateful to Rachel Harbers, the previous co-Chair of the FLSB for reaching out to me last September at the One Young World conference and encouraging me to take a more active role in WIBF. As the newly appointed co-Chair of the Future Leader Shadow Board, I love working with all of the shadow board and the wider WIBF volunteer community and I am so grateful for their support in driving all our initiatives forward.”

Her co-chair Sarah Woodard said, “I could not think of anybody more deserving of this Award. Rachel is a pleasure to work with and is always putting others before herself. Since becoming Co-Chair of the FLSB Rachel has been working to strategically raise the profile of WIBF and the FLSB for the benefit of its members. I am excited to work with her on the FLSB’s important initiatives and continue to implement positive change by leveraging the Rising Star Award”.

Congratulations to Rachel, a very well deserved accolade!
