I hope you all have enjoyed a restful bank holiday weekend.

MILKEN INSTITUTE ASIA SUMMIT

This month I am proud to represent WIBF at the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore, 15-16 September. Attendees at the Summit are interested in what we are doing here at WIBF and what we are doing in the UK. I know people will be asking about the Women in Finance Charter and what it means for women working in business and finance in the UK. Another key area of interest for attendees, I’m sure, is FinTech and women moving into this area. I will report back next month.

WIBF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016
The WIBF AGM 2016 will take place on Tuesday 27th September, 19:00-20:00. All members are very welcome. The meeting will be held in London at RBS, 135 Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3TP.
Members are also able to take part in the AGM via video conference from Edinburgh (RBS, 113 Dundas Street).

WIBF AND FT WOMEN AT THE TOP
Media attention and thought leadership are powerful ways to advance the debate on improving gender balance in business. That’s one of the reasons I am so pleased that WIBF has joined as a supporting organisation of the FT Women at the Top event –

This year, we have seen decision makers in business, government and across the political landscape come together to raise the profile of diversity and inclusion in public awareness. I feel that this full day event will continue to build on this important momentum.

Our support of this FT Live event offers WIBF members a 10% discount – equivalent to £150 off – by using the code WIBF10 when registering.

What makes me really excited is that everyone who purchases access is encouraged to bring a ‘rising star’ with them as a complimentary guest. This way of paying it forward and supporting women in the pipeline echoes the pledge that Marisa Drew asked attendees at the 2014 WIBF Awards for Achievement to agree to, so it fits really well with the WIBF way.

Women at the Top is designed for senior business leaders and representatives from leading corporate organisations, large-scale institutions, SMEs and start-ups, academia and government, an important network for our young talents to tap in to. The speakers and panellists include many leading names from the banking and finance sector – and friends of WIBF – including Virgin Money CEO Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Newton Investment Management CEO Helena Morrissey, Bank of England Deputy Governor and COO Charlotte Hogg and Santander UK chair Shriti Vadera. The closing keynote interview is with Margrethe Vestager, European Commissioner for Competition, who is sure to have some incredible insights from her time at the top.
