ShareAction are planning a campaign of AGM Activism around the gender pay gap and diversity more broadly during the 2019 AGM season.

The recently published Hampton Alexander Review shows that almost a quarter of companies in the FTSE 350 have only one woman on their board, and there remain five all-male boards. At a parliamentary hearing on women in executive management which took place last July, representatives from several leading UK companies told the Women and Equalities Committee that “Shareholders are more concerned about environmental issues than promoting women to senior positions in boardrooms and some are not convinced that businesses need more women in top jobs.”

As such, more still needs to be done to ensure that both companies and institutional shareholders put the issue of a lack of gender diversity and the gender pay gap centre stage. In 2019, ShareAction hopes to run a targeted and specific campaign focused on the worst offenders amongst listed companies.”

We want to highlight Share Action’s Gender Agenda Campaign to you and to ask for support by:

  • Donating to the crowd-funding website.
  • Stepping up to be trained as a Share action Ambassador to ask questions at the AGMs of companies with the worst gender pay gaps.
  • Offering the share they own as proxies so Share action can attend the AGMs
