Event overview

Join us for an evening with distinguished speaker, Maggie Craig, Head of the FCA’s Scotland office.

Bookings are closed for this event.

We had a great turnout for the interview of Maggie Craig, Head of the FCA’s Scotland office, by our Edinburgh co-chair Niamh Simms. The conversation kicked off with an observation that Maggie might not be what people expect of a regulator, and during the candid and entertaining discussion we got an understanding of why that might be.

Maggie’s career path hasn’t been straightforward and some might be surprised (and relieved!) to know she has never had a career plan. It’s vital to her to have a career which is continually interesting, and she is motivated by doing work which really matters to society. She uses networking to listen to others and explained how valuable she has found the experience of being reverse mentored.

In her personal life Maggie is strict about how she spends her time, only doing what she enjoys: she doesn’t watch TV or use social media, she has a rule against working at weekends or on planes, and makes plenty of time for meditation, yoga and family and friends.

Finally, Maggie emphasised the importance of being authentic - and it never hurts to take a drama class!

Thanks to Aegon for hosting us in their fabulous South Gyle office for this event.
