This week we had the wonderful Tara Zutshi host a workshop to kick off the first WIBF event in Birmingham this year. In this workshop held at the PWC offices, Tara took us through guided exercises to help us connect with our higher selves.

Tara is an experienced Executive Coach who has been using Meditation and Yoga for over 12 years and 4 years ago she studied a “Transcending Stress” programme.
In 2016 she founded Corporate Soul Consulting to share these techniques with individuals and groups to help them improve their well-being.

Finding your purpose, it’s a journey of self-discovery.

Just search the internet and you are hit with facts like these:

• Poor mental health is costing organisations £1300 per person per year.
• There are 10 million employees who are actively disengaged.
• 3 out of 5 people are impacted with mental health issues.
• We are destroying our planet.

How does reading this make you feel? Not great right? That’s why connecting with our higher selves and finding our purpose improves resilience and reduces stress.
The soul needs to learn 4 main lessons:

1. Patience
2. Tolerance
3. Forgiveness
4. Compassion

A good technique to connect with your higher self and start the journey to learning life lessons is to practice visualisation. During the workshop Tara got us all relaxed and conducted a couple of exercises in order for us to connect with our higher selves.

It was nice to take some time out and undertake these visualisation exercises. It’s a reminder to factor in some ‘me’ time regularly and work on learning the 4 main lessons to improve the quality of life by reducing stress.
