On the 6th February, on the anniversary of (some) women gaining the right vote, Standard Life Aberdeen kindly hosted the latest London PEP event, Moving from Voluntary to Corporate Boards. It was a delight to welcome Terri Duhon, a seasoned board director, non-executive for Morgan Stanley International Board, and finance and risk expert.

Terri coached us through the structures of voluntary and corporate boards giving advice on where to focus time and energy depending on skillsets. She discussed traditional and non-traditional routes to the board and shared common pitfalls including her own lessons learnt. She gave practical tips on building and managing your NED networks as well as how to prepare yourself for NED roles. The session was excellent, fascinating and incredibly helpful with lots of takeaways.

The room was buzzing afterwards as members connected to share ideas on how to raise their profiles and prepare themselves for the road ahead. The panoramic views from Standard Life Aberdeen’s offices were simply stunning. A great night out!
