The Edinburgh WIBF branch was delighted to welcome Gin Lalli to speak on the very pertinent topic of emptying your ‘stress bucket’.
This virtual session drew a fantastic turnout. Gin successfully made the session very interactive, and from the contributions and comments from the audience it was clear that the topic resonated with a lot of attendees.
Gin gave us a very interesting overview of the primitive vs the intelligent brain and our fight, flight or freeze responses. She explained how our brains put all these negative thoughts, worries and anxieties into ‘stress buckets’, then gave us useful and practical tips on how to manage stress and limit what we put in our buckets.
These tips included reducing our time spent on devices – something that we are all finding particularly hard when working from home. A few gasps were heard when Gin suggested we all give up caffeine, but this was swiftly cured by the suggestion of listening to Matthew McConaughey’s dulcet tones reading a bedtime story for relaxation.
Finally, we would also like to thank Tesco Bank for hosting the event – and tell you all to watch out for those polar bears!
