The third in our series of interviews with past presidents, Sylvana Caloni, who was president from 2011 -2014 talks to Jade Fallen about her time with WIBF. She talks about her achievements when she was president, why women should strive to get experience in leadership and the importance of paying it forward, to help other women in their careers.

Sylvana Caloni is a Leadership Consultant, Executive Coach, Facilitator of Peer Advisory Circles and Learning Groups. She contributes to discussion panels on leadership, diversity and inclusion and facilitates workshops at international conferences. In 2004 Sylvana established her coaching business in London, following a 15-year career in global investment banking.

Sylvana was president of WIBF from 2011 until 2014. You can watch the interview below where she talks about her achievements when she was president, why women should strive to get experience in leadership and the importance of paying it forward, to help other women in their careers. As well as looking back at her time with WIBF, Sylvana considers what WIBF might look like in 50 years time. She also advises members on how they can get the best out of the WIBF network.

A pathbreaker, Sylvana was the first female equity analyst and portfolio manager at Bankers Trust Australia. As an Executive Vice President responsible for global equity research teams she probed C-Suite executives across a range of international industries and geographies. From these insights and perspectives, she distilled the essence of successful business management and market out-performance.

Based on her first-hand experience of the fast paced and demanding financial services sector she was commissioned to write “My Win, your loss” or the Zero Sum Game: The Mindset of Financial Markets Executives for the International Journal of Coaching in Organizationsâ„¢.

Sylvana was the Founding Chair of Advance in the UK, a global network for Australian Professionals and is an Advance Lifetime Ambassador. She was honoured to serve on the Diversity Advisory Panel to the Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2013-14. She was also a member of the Tomorrow’s Company Global Leadership Forum where she contributed to the report Tomorrow’s Global Leaders: How to build a culture that ensures women reach the top. Sylvana is currently Vice Chair and Head of Communications at IWF UK a part of the International Women’s Forum (IWF).
