Each month we celebrate a WIBF volunteer who has particularly excelled. This month Shannon Oleson is being recognised.

We are delighted to announce that  Future Leader Network co-chair, Shannon Oleson has been chosen as Volunteer of the Month for October.  Shannon is being recognised for her outstanding contributions to Women in Banking and Finance and for her leadership of the Future Leaders Network.

Shannon was nominated by her co-chair, Rachel Mann, who said, “Shannon’s leadership and talent chairing the Future Leaders Network has been exceptional during her year in the role. Shannon’s dedication and passion for championing young women in the first 10 years of their career has significantly contributed towards achieving WIBFs goals and she is constantly inspiring all those in the network. During her tenure, Shannon has led the FLN network from strength to strength by tripling the membership and hosting events with record attendance! It’s an absolute pleasure partnering with her and her commitment to gender equality in the financial sector perfectly embodies the core values of WIBF, making her a very deserving candidate for this recognition. It’s an exceptionally exciting time to be part of the FLN network – thank you for all you do Shannon! ”

Here are an example of Shannon’s notable achievements as co-chair over the last year:

  • Tripled the FLN membership base since Shannon and Rachel became co- chairs in 2024
  • Record attendance at the latest quarterly FLN event – 80 attendees.
  • Launched and ran the FLN data collection project
  • Designed and launched the FLN Webpage and FLN LinkedIn Group
  • Implemented a strategy to track engagement across FLN via Linkedin and Newsletter
  • Lead the FLN SES Mentoring programme and stepping in as a mentor herself in the programme when due to a last minute mentor drop out
  • Restructured and recruited several new members to the FLN working group as part of our overall local and national growth strategy
  • Implemented policy and governance procedures within the FLN recruitment process
  • Strengthened WIBF’s relationships with several significant corporate partners and is currently working with them to partner on 2025 FLN strategies and events
