As International Women’s Day approaches, our corporate partners are hosting events, sharing insights and creating spaces for important conversations across financial services. We’re pleased to highlight a selection of activities taking place across our community, showcasing how organisations are championing inclusion, collaboration and progress for women across the industry.

As we head towards International Women’s Day, many of our corporate partners are hosting events, publishing thought leadership and creating spaces for important conversations across financial services.

We’re pleased to share a selection of what’s happening across our community. Some of these events are open to WIBF members and you are warmly invited to attend –  simply follow the link to register. Others are being shared for insight and inspiration, showcasing the breadth of activity taking place across the industry.

International Women’s Day is a moment to reflect, connect and accelerate progress. We’re proud to amplify the voices and initiatives of our partners who are helping to drive meaningful change.

Citi is hosting an event bringing together professionals for a conversation on LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace.

Taking place as part of International Women’s Day, the event reflects Citi’s theme “Leading with Agility: Shaping the Future”, exploring how inclusive leadership and allyship contribute to more inclusive, innovative and high-performing workplaces.

What to expect

  • A deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences at work, including how identity can shape career journeys, challenges and opportunities.

  • Insights into evolving approaches to LGBTQ+ inclusion and what effective and meaningful action looks like in professional environments.

  • Clear, practical strategies to support inclusion, challenge bias and lead with authenticity — whether you are a people leader or an individual contributor.

Cynergy Bank will mark International Women’s Day with a number of internal initiatives aligned with the 2026 #GiveToGain theme. As part of the campaign, the bank will use its internal colleague recognition platform to spotlight female colleagues and allies who embody the spirit of #GiveToGain. Cynergy Bank will also publish its gender pay gap report on International Women’s Day for the second consecutive year.

In addition, the organisation’s Inclusion and Diversity network, through its EMPOWER stream, will host an internal panel discussion focused on female representation and progression through allyship.

Event overview

To mark International Women’s Day, the EMPOWER stream of Cynergy Bank’s Inclusion and Diversity employee network is hosting an internal panel event centred on the #GiveToGain theme for 2026, with a strong focus on allyship, leadership and collective progress.

The session will explore how individuals at different stages of their careers have benefited from the support, advocacy and sponsorship of others, and how they in turn give back by creating opportunities for those around them.

The panel will feature a mix of external speakers and senior internal leaders, creating a balanced and practical discussion that blends lived experience with leadership insight.

External speakers
Addi Spiers – sharing insights on leadership, sponsorship and giving back through mentoring and advocacy
Morgan Allan – speaking on personal growth, allyship and empowering others through leadership

Key themes and discussion points

  • What #GiveToGain means in practice, not just in principle

  • How panellists have personally benefited from mentors, allies and sponsors

  • The importance of allyship at all levels, including from senior leaders

  • How giving time, opportunity and advocacy can accelerate collective success

On Thursday, 5 March, Hexaware will host an engaging panel discussion on this year’s inspiring theme: “Give to Gain.”  The panel will feature leaders who will share their perspectives on how giving – through mentorship, advocacy, opportunity, or community – creates space for all of us to grow, thrive, and succeed together.

In this internal event at Nationwide Building Society, Dame Debbie Crosbie will speak about her role as the Government’s Women in Finance Champion, and Hannah Bernard will share insights into her work as Co-Chair of the Invest in Women Taskforce. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and join the conversation.

The event will take place in person in London, with a watch party hosted at their Glasgow office. It will also be available for colleagues to watch online.

Following the one-hour session, a networking launch hosted by their employee networks will take place in both Glasgow and London. During this session, colleagues will also have the opportunity to join WIBF in the spirit of this year’s theme, Give to Gain.

Jennie Koo, WIBF Head of Branches, is hosting an International Women’s Day event at Unity Trust Bank on 10th March focused on mentoring. The event is primarily intended for internal colleagues, but as two external panellists from the King’s Trust have been secured, This event is open to WIBF members.

In-person attendance is welcome but limited to 25 places. Virtual attendance will also be available via Microsoft Teams, which is the platform used by Unity Trust Bank.

The IWD 2026 #GiveToGain campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration, highlighting that when people, organisations and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not subtraction — it is intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.

This panel discussion, hosted by Unity Trust Bank, will celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 and explore the many forms of mentoring that help others to thrive. The conversation will also reflect on how mentees often become mentors themselves, and how mentoring can support wellbeing and balance in an otherwise busy and demanding world.

  • A WIBF mentoring programme participant

  • A Unity Trust Bank colleague
