Celebrating our volunteers

WIBF is an organisation fuelled by amazing volunteers who make our events, mentoring and thought leadership agendas (plus a host of other activities) possible. We join other other organisations across the UK to celebrate Volunteers’ Week.

This is an opportunity to thank all of our volunteers who give their time and ‘spirit’ so generously, and to share some of their recent successes!

Congratulations firstly to our Volunteer of the Month for June, Lynsey Cochrane. As Operations Lead for WIBF Scotland, Lynsey is making an invaluable and creative contribution to our branches in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Lynsey, who is passionate about diversity, inclusion and wellbeing, became a WIBF member when she started working for Tesco Bank. Among other things, Lynsey has taken specific responsibility for member engagement, drawing on her professional expertise in content development and the user experience. Now a senior manager of content development at Hilton Worldwide, Lynsey is currently leading on a major Glasgow networking event to be held in person this summer. Do look out for an announcement about this event and sign up to attend! In the meantime, you can read more about Lynsey here.

We are delighted that Jennie Koo, a member of our Executive Board and co-chair of our Birmingham Branch, is featured in the INvolve 100 Future Leaders list. The Inclusion People 2022 Empower Role Model Lists run by Yahoo Finance celebrate those who have made a significant contribution to breaking down work barriers for people of colour.

Another shout-out is due to Sarah Woodard, an analyst at H.I.G Capital, who is now a winner of 2022’s WeAreThe City’s Rising Star awards. Sarah is co-chair of WIBF’s Future Leaders Shadow Board.

Congratulations to Lynsey, Jennie and Sarah: very well deserved recognition!

And thank you to all of our marvellous, talented volunteers. This Volunteers’ Week is for you!
