The Volunteer of the Year Award recognises the dedication, energy and impact of WIBF’s volunteers. Some of our shortlisted nominees have already been celebrated as Volunteers of the Month, while others were nominated by peers or self-nominated. Together, they showcase the spirit and strength of WIBF’s community.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is a special internal award recognising the passion, commitment and impact of WIBF’s volunteers. Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do – from driving strategic initiatives and shaping our mentoring programmes, to leading regional branches, delivering events, and strengthening our networks.

This award shines a light on the individuals who have gone above and beyond to support WIBF and its mission. Some of the shortlisted nominees have already been celebrated as Volunteer of the Month, while others have been nominated by their peers or put themselves forward in recognition of their contributions.

Together, they represent the energy, talent and dedication that make WIBF the thriving community it is today.

Diya Patel

Diya has been nominated for this award following her recognition as WIBF’s Volunteer of the Month in January 2025, in celebration of her outstanding leadership as CFO and Executive Board member.

Since stepping into the role in 2023, Diya has transformed WIBF’s financial function. She has introduced transparency, governance and rigour, while ensuring the organisation’s long-term financial health. By professionalising the team, implementing robust financial controls and introducing clearer reporting, she has given WIBF a new level of confidence and stability that will serve the organisation well into the future.

Steering a not-for-profit organisation through economic challenges is no easy task, yet Diya has done so with skill, diplomacy, and an unwavering focus on sustainability. Thanks to her leadership, WIBF entered 2025 in a strong financial position, ensuring the foundation is in place to deliver even greater impact in the years ahead.

WIBF President and CEO Anna Lane praised her “dedication, expertise, and calm, steady guidance”, highlighting her pivotal role in strengthening financial resilience. Branch Chair Jennie Koo added that “Diya has guided us through some incredibly tough times,” while Business and Finance Manager Emma Ryan described her as “always approachable, calm and clear with direction – an inspiring leader.”

Imogen Gammidge

Imogen has been nominated for this award in recognition of her leadership of WIBF’s Future Leaders Shadow Board (FLSB) mentoring programme. Since taking on the role of Mentoring Lead, she has transformed the way WIBF supports student members through mentoring.

Building on a pilot scheme, Imogen redesigned the programme from the ground up. She created a clear value proposition, streamlined the application process, and developed bespoke guides and communications for mentors and mentees. The result is the WIBF Future Me Mentoring Programme – an impactful initiative connecting students with near-peer mentors from the Future Leaders Network. This innovative model gives mentees valuable insight from those a few steps ahead in their careers, while mentors build leadership skills and give back in a meaningful way.

In 2025, Imogen exceeded targets by forming 17 high-quality mentoring pairs, launching with a virtual kick-off session, private LinkedIn group and ongoing community-building communications. She has also contributed to WIBF’s broader mentoring strategy, helping to shape new website content and share best practice.

Endorsements highlight Imogen’s creativity, collaboration and professionalism. As one mentee stated: “This is not just mentoring – it’s a foundational network, pouring with opportunities.”

Through her leadership, Imogen is empowering the next generation of women in finance.

Jill Henderson

Jill has been nominated for this award in recognition of her outstanding leadership as Chair of WIBF Scotland, following her recognition as Volunteer of the Month in February 2025.

Since taking on the role, Jill has been a driving force in building a strong, supportive community for women in finance across Scotland. She has championed gender parity issues, opened conversations about money, and provided women with the tools and confidence to thrive. Her professional expertise in women’s financial empowerment brought depth and relevance to her work with WIBF, particularly in campaigning for salary transparency and raising awareness of the gender pension gap.

Under Jill’s leadership, WIBF Scotland has grown into a robust network fostering mentorship, collaboration and professional development. She has advocated for systemic change across the financial services industry while also inspiring through her visible leadership—whether as a keynote speaker, panellist, or contributor to workshops and events. Her efforts have not only spotlighted the achievements of women but also provided practical skills and resources to help them succeed.

Colleagues praise her for creating an inclusive, cohesive community across Edinburgh and Glasgow, and for inspiring women throughout Scotland’s financial sector. Jill leaves a legacy of impact, influence and empowerment.

Karen Bennett

Karen has been nominated for this award in recognition of her exceptional leadership as Director of Awards, following her recognition as WIBF’s Volunteer of the Month in November 2024. She was also shortlisted for the inaugural Volunteer of the Year Award, reflecting her longstanding dedication to WIBF’s flagship Awards for Achievement.

Her efforts have been instrumental in celebrating talent and excellence across the industry. From leading end-to-end communications to coordinating with shortlisters, judges and regional event teams, Karen has ensured the smooth delivery of a complex and high-profile programme. Her leadership was particularly vital in 2024, when the awards presentation returned live for the first time since 2019 and, for the first time ever, was streamed to simultaneous regional celebrations in London, Edinburgh and Birmingham. Each year brings unique challenges, but Karen’s professionalism and commitment have made every event a success.

Alongside her awards work, Karen has made wider contributions to WIBF. She authored a powerful article connecting Equal Pay Day to her family’s suffragette history, bringing a unique voice to WIBF’s mission. Since joining the Management Board in 2021, she has also supported major initiatives including ACT research, communications programmes, the rebrand, WIBF’s transition to a social enterprise and the digital strategy overhaul.

Karen’s impact is lasting, visible and deeply valued.

Lauren Fuller

Lauren has been nominated for this award following her recognition as WIBF’s Volunteer of the Month in August 2024, celebrating her outstanding contribution as the lead volunteer for the Norwich – East of England regional branch.

As the initiator and driving force behind the branch, Lauren has been instrumental in getting it successfully established. Her energy, enthusiasm and commitment to WIBF have been remarkable. From sourcing inspiring speakers for the Personal Excellence Programme to hosting events and co-leading the branch, Lauren has ensured that members in the region have access to valuable opportunities for connection, learning and growth.

Branch Chair Jennie Koo praised her as “an amazing, dedicated WIBF volunteer,” highlighting the impact she has made in a short space of time by creating a vibrant and supportive community.

Alongside her volunteer work, Lauren has built a strong professional profile. She is Customer Journey Developer at NatWest Group, a Green Mortgage Specialist, and also holds leadership responsibilities as Gender Network Initiatives & Partnerships Lead. In 2024, she was named a DIFA Rising Star and won WIBF’s prestigious Future Leader Award.

Lauren’s dedication, leadership and ability to deliver lasting impact make her an outstanding nominee for this award.

Lorna McAndie

Lorna has been nominated for this award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to WIBF Scotland, particularly through her leadership of events and support for the mentoring programme. She was put forward by fellow board member Maryla Wytrazek, who praised her passion for diversity, equity and inclusion and her commitment to delivering positive change.

Earlier this year, Lorna delivered two highly successful events with the Edinburgh WIBF community. Both were insightful and thought-provoking, designed to engage members and extend WIBF’s reach. These events not only introduced new members to the organisation but also strengthened relationships with corporate partners and broadened WIBF’s profile beyond banking and finance, reaching into consultancy and the legal sector.

In addition to her event leadership, Lorna has stepped in to lead on mentoring in Scotland. This reflects her deep interest in enabling WIBF members to grow, develop and reach their full potential. By connecting members with mentoring opportunities, she is helping to ensure that professional development and support are at the heart of WIBF’s mission.

Her proactive approach, creativity and commitment to inclusion have made a significant impact within WIBF Scotland, inspiring colleagues and creating meaningful opportunities for members to thrive.

Lucy Ellis-Keeler

Lucy has been nominated for this award in recognition of her outstanding leadership as Co-Chair of WIBF’s Future Leaders Shadow Board (FLSB), following her recognition as Volunteer of the Month in September 2024.

Through her dedication and commitment, Lucy has played a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the FLSB, inspiring others with her energy, vision and determination to empower women in the industry. Colleagues describe her as a driving force whose commitment to inclusivity perfectly reflects the values of WIBF.

Under Lucy’s co-leadership, the Shadow Board has flourished, establishing itself as a powerful voice for change. She is known for pushing boundaries and constantly questioning how things can be improved, ensuring that WIBF continues to innovate and adapt. By creating opportunities for the next generation of women leaders, Lucy has demonstrated that diversity in leadership is not only vital for fairness but also for sustainable growth and innovation across financial services.

Her colleagues and senior leaders alike commend her for her drive, determination and passion. Lucy’s contributions have already left a significant mark on WIBF, and her influence continues to shape the organisation while inspiring future leaders to step forward with confidence and ambition.

Maryla Wytrazek

Maryla has been nominated for this award following her recognition as WIBF’s Volunteer of the Month in June 2024. She plays a vital role on the WIBF Scotland Board as Relationship Manager for the Edinburgh Branch, where she has built strong partnerships with corporate members and ensured high levels of engagement across Scotland.

Colleagues describe Maryla as a proactive, motivated and highly valued board member who leads by example. She has been instrumental in fostering corporate relationships, promoting WIBF across the region, and ensuring members and partners get the most from their involvement. Even during 2025, when the Edinburgh Board was reduced in size, Maryla’s dedication ensured the successful delivery of four well-attended face-to-face events, each receiving excellent feedback.

Her contributions extend beyond events and partnerships. She actively promotes WIBF on social media, generating visibility and enthusiasm for the organisation’s work, and consistently supports colleagues across branches.

Maryla’s impact is also felt on a personal level. As one corporate partner noted, she has been an inspiring advocate for women in finance and instrumental in encouraging others’ career progression, providing confidence and support at pivotal moments.

Through her commitment, enthusiasm and leadership, Maryla has made a lasting impact on WIBF Scotland and its members.

Rachel Kennedy

Rachel has been nominated for this award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and energy as part of WIBF Scotland and her contributions to the 26th Awards for Achievement, which earned her the title of Volunteer of the Month in December 2024. She has also been nominated by her fellow board members for Scotland and put herself forward for consideration.

Since joining WIBF, Rachel has brought a new level of drive, inclusivity and organisation to every project she has taken on. She has played a key role in delivering insightful and well-attended events across Edinburgh, often drawing on her impressive network of contacts across financial services, law and academia. Her events consistently generate excellent feedback and have helped strengthen WIBF’s presence in Scotland.

Colleagues describe Rachel as a “powerhouse” whose energy, connections and passion inspire those around her. She has also been praised for her resilience and dedication, continuing to contribute despite facing personal challenges this year.

Rachel’s meticulous planning, creativity and determination have significantly raised WIBF’s profile in Scotland. By championing diversity and inclusion and creating spaces for meaningful conversations, she has made a lasting impact on the WIBF community.

Shannon Oleson and Rachel Mann

Shannon Oleson and Rachel Mann have been jointly nominated for this award in recognition of their exceptional leadership as Co-Chairs of WIBF’s Future Leaders Network (FLN). Shannon was recognised as Volunteer of the Month in October 2024, and together they have since put themselves forward for consideration. The awards team agreed that their nomination should reflect their shared achievements, as the FLN’s success is driven by both.

Since becoming Co-Chairs in 2024, Shannon and Rachel have transformed the FLN into WIBF’s largest and most active community. They have tripled membership, introduced robust data and governance processes, and launched new initiatives including a book club, mystery meet-ups, and the Future Me Mentoring Programme, which doubled mentor applications in a year. Their work has significantly strengthened engagement, visibility, revenue and corporate partnerships, often dedicating more than 50 hours a month each to the cause.

Their achievements include delivering high-profile events with Citi, IG, Lloyds, Natixis and AFME, building a 400+ strong LinkedIn community, and laying the groundwork for regional expansion. Endorsements praise their vision, resilience and positivity, describing them as “a force to be reckoned with” who elevate the entire WIBF community.

Together, Shannon and Rachel are inspiring the next generation of women in finance.

Siobhan Moran

Siobhan Moran has been nominated for this award in recognition of her exceptional contribution as Co-Chair of WIBF’s Belfast – Northern Ireland regional branch and as Head of Development for WIBF’s flagship Personal Excellence Programme (PEP). She has also recently taken on a leadership role supporting the 27th Awards for Achievement.

Since joining as a volunteer in 2022, Siobhan has demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment and passion for advancing women in financial services. As lead for PEP, she has been instrumental in curating a high-quality programme of professional development, sourcing an impressive roster of thought leaders and industry experts to inspire and educate members. Her efforts mean the programme now delivers up to 44 virtual events annually, requiring exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.

Siobhan’s dedication goes beyond logistics – she is recognised for her authentic advocacy for diversity and inclusion, always seeking new ways to strengthen the community and champion equality in the workplace. Her collaborative approach, positivity and commitment to excellence set a high standard for others and make her an inspiring role model within WIBF.

Through her leadership and tireless efforts, Siobhan has made a significant and lasting impact on WIBF and its members.

Victoria White

Victoria has been nominated for this award following her recognition as WIBF’s Volunteer of the Month in March 2025. She was put forward by Lauren Cassells and Lucy Ellis-Keeler, Co-Chairs of the Future Leaders Shadow Board (FLSB), and seconded by Annie Ren, Director of Governance, for her exceptional dedication, attention to detail and energy in her role as Secretary.

Victoria has been praised for her meticulous approach, ensuring that every task is completed to the highest standard and setting a strong example of organisational excellence. Her contributions go far beyond her formal responsibilities: she has worked closely with governance leads to support wider strategic objectives, offering innovative ideas that have enhanced the impact of the FLSB’s initiatives.

Colleagues describe her as a true role model whose passion, commitment and work ethic inspire those around her. Anna Lane, President and CEO of WIBF, also commended Victoria, stating that she “exemplifies the very best of WIBF volunteering.”

Alongside her volunteering, Victoria is an Actuarial Manager within Insurance Finance at Lloyds Banking Group, where she currently works in Finance Change. Her professionalism, collaborative spirit and drive make her an invaluable asset to both WIBF and her organisation.
