About the event
How many of these questions would you answer yes to?
- Do you have what you need to take the next step in your career right now?
- Are you settling for less than you deserve?
- Do you feel like you're missing out on opportunities?
- Do roles within your company — well within your capabilities — never seem to come your way?
- Do you believe your skills could be put to better use?
- When you do ask for opportunities that fit your strengths, do you get the response you were hoping for?
If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone.
Research shows that 80% of people believe they could achieve far better results - and far greater influence over their career trajectory - if they simply improved how they ask. Yet so many talented professionals remain stuck, not because of a lack of ability, but because of the way they communicate their value and advocate for themselves.
The good news? Influence is a skill — and like any skill, it can be learned.
In this session, we'll uncover why these barriers arise, explore the common pitfalls that hold even the most capable people back, and - most importantly - equip you with practical tools to unlock your influence. Whether you're looking to gain recognition, create new opportunities, or confidently shape your next career step, this session will give you the insight and the language to make it happen.
Understand why influence barriers exist: Gain clarity on the hidden reasons talented professionals are passed over for opportunities — and why it's rarely about capability. Understanding these barriers is the first step to breaking through them.
Identify the common pitfalls holding you back: Recognise the patterns and behaviours that quietly undermine your influence at work, from how you position yourself in conversations to how you respond when opportunities arise.
Build practical influence skills you can use straight away: Leave with concrete techniques to communicate your value more effectively, ask for what you want with confidence, and proactively shape the direction of your career.
