“Style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak”

The WIBF Manchester branch welcomed Harry Purewal, Personal Branding and Image Consultant from “A girl named Harry”.

This was a fascinating insight into the language of clothes. Harry shared her expertise about the science of colour, psychology of style and the significance of military uniform whatever the dress code, in or out of work.

Attendees learnt the science behind why certain colours make us look in focus, healthy and illuminated whilst others leave us looking ill, bloated and tired. She provided insight into different style profiles (Dramatic, Classic, Natural, Gamine, Ingenue, Romantic) and how the styles we choose can reflect our authentic selves, along with how to carry authority in our look no matter what the dress code or environment that you’re in.

She shared the benefits of understanding why Personal Branding matters:

1. Express ourselves authentically.
2. Know what suits us.
3. Know how to make the most of our body shape.
4. Save time and money and negativity.
5. Look effortlessly together, confident and authentic.

We all came away with a lot to think about and probably reviewed the content of our wardrobes!

Feedback from the event:

Jackie Whittingham: “I’ve just been to see Harry speak at the WIBF event and she is amazing. I thought it might be too girly for me, but Harry spoke about psychology, communication and being seen. So interesting and powerful! Thank you, Harry!”

Hayley Rutherford: “I found the event very useful and interesting. It really is true that first impressions count, and I have certainly taken on board some of the points. This was my first event with WIBF and I am looking forward to future events.”

Joanne Taylor: “It was a great event. Thanks for all the advice and thanks to the WiBF team for organising. I look forward to the next event.”
