The Role of Nutrition for Wellbeing in the Workplace
WIBF was delighted to welcome Dr Estrelita van Rensburg of Wellness EQ as our guest speaker for our Personal Excellence Programme and wellness event “The Role of Nutrition for Wellbeing in the Workplace” on 16th January hosted by Royal London at Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh.
Dr van Rensburg presented a history of international dietary recommendations and highlighted the scientific findings to evidence that what most of us have been led to believe is a ‘healthy’ diet could in fact be detrimental to our overall health and brain function.
Sugar was named and shamed as ‘pure, white & deadly’ and fats and protein given top billing in the Wellness EQ recommended diet plan.
The take away messages of the evening were; ‘real food is good food’, fat will not cause weight gain and protein will not cause a heart attack!
Dr van Rensburg urged the audience to eliminate sugar, cut back on carbs and confidently consume full fat products.
The subject of this event was clearly a hot topic as it gathered a media following from That’s TV Scotland who aired a pre-event interview with Dr van Rensburg.

On the evening the scientific research and speaker viewpoints sparked interactive discussion, gave much ‘food for thought’ and received fantastic feedback, a huge thank you to Wellness EQ, all the attendees and to Royal London for hosting us.
