LinkedIn or Left Out? Navigating The World’s Largest Professional Network
WIBF and NatWest are delighted to welcome Euan McNair to this virtual session on how to navigate the world’s largest professional network - Linkedin.
The digital world we live in is forever changing, and rapidly. These changes can be daunting and uncomfortable, or they can offer the opportunity to learn, connect and grow. The difference between the two sides of the coin can be subtle and they can be interdependent, but we can use key platforms like LinkedIn for good in both our professional and personal lives.
LinkedIn is a participation platform. The more you invest and engage, the more you will get from it. In this session, we will explore common complaints like, “I don’t have time”, “I get bombarded with irrelevant messages” and “I’m overwhelmed!” Join us to explore the challenges many people have with Linkedin and demystify the platform. This workshop aims to help you grow in confidence and empower you to become an active member while staying true to yourself.
- Increase your confidence using LinkedIn
- Understand the inner workings and what recruiters see
- How to work smart, not hard on the platform
- How to deploy a range of functionality
- Be positively disruptive
- Enhance your personal digital brand
- Share experiences
- Challenge Euan’s thinking!
Euan McNair has been operating in Talent Acquisition since 2008 having completed his Psychology degree after two years out attempting to play badminton for Scotland! The timing of entering this space may appear to be ill advised, but, Euan believes that this presented a unique opportunity to do things slightly differently. He has operated in many sectors, from Social Care and Healthcare to Oil & Gas and since 2015, Financial Services.
A defining role in Euan’s career when he became a Senior Recruitment Manager at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. This allowed him to combine all of his passions, challenged him immensely (personally and professionally), altered the shape of his career and highlighted the importance of purpose in everything you do. This project brought to the fore the importance and undeniable power of diversity.
Euan is currently a Senior Manager for Alexander Mann Solutions, a leading talent consultancy that sees him devise and deliver a range of solutions for Royal London. He is also founder of the Talent Acquisition Forum, a regular event for TA professionals to come together, share insights, challenge their thinking, share successes, all for the greater good of the businesses they operate in and, mainly, for the candidates they engage with. He is also on the Board of Trustees for WorkingRite, an Edinburgh based charity which has a clear purpose of removing barriers for young people entering the world of work.
Work aside, Euan is married to Jo, a new father to his daughter Ria and best friend to their Cockapoo Blake!
