Diversity nowadays goes far beyond traditional definitions that focus on gender and ethnicity; we hear about diversity of thought, ideas, markets, customers and talent. And this is what drives the need for inclusion as an organisational and leadership capability. But diversity and inclusion are not the same and companies need to be aware not to use them interchangeably. Psychologist Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic recently said: ‘Diversity without inclusion is like a root canal without anaesthesia’. Ouch! Leaders who display the ability to not only embrace diversity, but who also create a work culture that makes people work together, will be at a competitive advantage.
In this leadership session we will explore the notions of diversity and inclusion in more depth, giving you the opportunity to work alongside participants on articulating your vision of how to be an inclusive leader. Prior to the workshop you are invited to take an assessment called The GC Index®. This framework supports organisations in becoming truly diverse and inclusive by describing the five different ways in which people are inclined to make an impact and contribution.
