“Trust is a very strong emotion – hard to build and easy to lose”.

WIBF and HSBC were delighted to welcome Anya Zhuravkina, the founder of Winning Language, for a virtual event on Wednesday 16th September. 120 participants were involved in a highly interactive and engaging session with Anya on how to communicate in a trustworthy way.

The session opened with attendees sharing their favourite word – “happy”, “love”, “smile” and “laugh” came up a lot, along with other great suggestions like “grit”, “cake” and “yes”! This got us thinking about what words mean, and how they make us feel.

During the session Anya talked through recent communications from CEOs of well-known companies and country leaders, analysing the language used and how it came across.

This led to two key parts of any communication: What you say and how you say it.

Some key tips included thinking from the recipient’s perspective, avoiding information overload, being consistent and staying human in your tone.

Anya’s session taught us the value of words and how we use them – a key lesson in todays’ predominantly remote working environment.

WIBF and HSBC would like to say a huge thank you to Anya for the interactive session.

Some of the excellent attendee feedback for the session included the following:

“I really enjoyed this morning. The event was interesting and I loved that it was current, up to speed with today’s events and very relatable.”

“I just love that they really make you think about things - life is so fast and busy all the time.”

“Anya reemphasised the power of words – not just what you say but how you say it. More applicable in today’s remote world than ever before.”

Do watch the recording of the session if you missed it!
