Event overview

We are delighted to welcome Joanne Murphy, Chief Operating Officer at the Chartered Banker Institute, to this informative networking session.

Bookings are closed for this event.

Edinburgh WIBF members were treated last night to a presentation from Joanne Murphy, Chief Operating Officer of the Chartered Banker Institute, who enthralled us with her story of the Institute from its origins 144 years ago.

We heard from how the first trailblazing 27 female members were first permitted to join in 1920, to how women now make up 54% of the current 32000+ members worldwide.
Joanne was passionate about the Institutes emphasis on the importance of professionalism and strong ethics within the industry and explained how their 3 Thought Leadership pillars – Sustainable Banker, Ethical Banker & Digital Banker – are focused on encouraging continuous learning and professional development of members who are committed to being a different kind of banker and want to be part of a community that cares about professionalism. Recent initiatives such as the development of Chartered Banker by Experience, a digital Mentoring offering and the launch of Speak Up, an anonymous digital escalation process show that the Institute continues to strive to be at the forefront of developments in the industry and support to members.
