The first virtual WiBF event in the Critical Thinking Series welcomed Andy Nicol and Mark Fryer from ABSTRACT. Sound judgement and decision making are important for everyone in both our personal and professional lives, but what drives our reasoning and actions and how can we improve our judgement and decision making?
The morning event received a large take up from members across the country, with approximately 90 people joining the webinar.
ABSTRACT Director Mark Fryer introduced the Critical Thinking series and provided an engaging and interactive session. Mark gave us an insight in to understanding why we make the decisions we make and that our character is the driver behind it. Two statements that stood out from the presentation were;
• Character drives Judgement - Judgement drives Decisions - Decisions drive Business
• “Organisational Character was 80% responsible for driving decisions”
Mark went on to explain that making a decision involves an element of risk and you must feel psychologically safe to allow you to make that decision, considering the trilogy of answers – Yes, No and Best Alternative. The audience were asked questions to consider how certain situations and decisions would make us feel, relating them to the current COVID-19 situation.
WiBF would like to say a huge thank you to Andy and Mark for the engaging and thought-provoking event. We look forward to the next event with ABSTRACT in June.
