“The Power of Mindset”
A follow up to the Manchester WIBF launch event in May, we welcomed Gemma Fattahi and Annabell Gast from the Natwest Entrepreneurship Team to talk to us about the importance of mindset and how changing our beliefs can have a powerful impact on everything we do.
We heard about two types of mindsets: a fixed mindset and a growth mindset and how your view of yourself can determine everything. Using the OARBED model we were asked to undertake a self-reflection activity to assess if our behaviours were OAR (Ownership, Accountability and Responsibility) representing above the line behaviour, while BED (Blame, Excuse, Deny) is below the line.
Key takeaways included top tips on how to develop your mindset:
• Look at the language you use with yourself and others
• Take time to reflect
• Set your vision and be clear on your plan
• Understand your triggers
• Enjoy the journey
• Learn from failure
• Stop making excuses and take ownership over your attitude
Thanks to Gemma an Annabell and the Natwest Entrepreneur Accelerator Hub for generously hosting this event. After the session the attendees were invited to look around the Hub and speak with entrepreneurs currently on the Entrepreneur Accelerator Programme.
