Is there any truth in the claim that ‘men are from Mars and women are from Venus’? How could that possibly be relevant in the workplace? What could it mean for you and your career? Some gender differences in communication arise from cultural expectations and the different way boys and girls are treated from early childhood as well as into adulthood. Interestingly, recent research in neuroscience has revealed some fascinating gender differences in how our brains work. Would you like to know more about it? Just having an understanding of some of these differences can depersonalise the frustrations around communication in the workplace and could help you navigate your career as a woman in a male dominated industry.

Claire Balfour will explore with us how gender variations in neuro-chemicals (including hormones) and the way the brain is structured create differences in male and female communication styles. She will suggest some strategies you can use to confidently communicate in a way that men can respond to.
