Communicating Inclusively with Remote Teams
Communicating effectively and inclusively online is challenging, not least because so many of the non-verbal cues we pick up when meeting face-to-face are absent. To keep the business moving and employees engaged, companies need to communicate in ways that encourage people to speak up and share their unique perspectives, creating, in the process, a strong sense of well-being and belonging.
In this interactive session, Susan Room will provide an opportunity for you to:
- Consider what communicating effectively and inclusively really means
- Reflect on what you do(n’t) see ‘on the screen’ and how this affects what you do(n’t) say
- Think about the impact of your words and how stress, fatigue and illness can bring implicit bias and unhelpful language to the fore
- Explore how to use body language and voice to increase your own and others’ engagement in virtual meetings
- Take away some very practical ideas for making the most of virtual meetings
