Director of Strategy
Alice Gaskell is a former Senior Equity Investor and member of the Global Human Talent Committee at BlackRock. Her expertise is in European equities where she has 23 years of investment experience and helped build and lead Blackrock’s European Equity Team to over $40b AUM. In 2018, she won Morningstar’s European Equity Fund manager of the Year Award and was a finalist in Investment Week’s 2017 Female Fund Manager of Year category. As a portfolio manager, she has observed senior management across Europe strive to deliver their strategic goals over nearly a quarter of a century and has a deep appreciation of the role of corporate culture and diversity of perspective in delivering better financial and social outcomes for all stakeholders.
Alice joined WIBF in 2018 as Director of Strategy at an exciting time on the journey toward its 40th anniversary in 2020. With the help of government, the finance sector in the U.K. has a unique opportunity to build a broad network of corporates, individuals, academics, policy-makers and aligned organisations who are focused on building a new culture which can leverage female talent to the full.
She studied Politics and Philosophy at Oxford University and graduated in 1994. She has a multi-cultural background and has lived in 7 countries on 3 continents. She has 3 children and enjoys mentoring young people in and outside of the business context, most recently with the charity IntoUniversity which helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds prepare for a University education.
