WIBF Volunteer of the Month – November 2021

Karen Bennett has been chosen as the November Volunteer of the month.

Karen joined the WIBF team in February 2021, initially to support the awards programme, before joining the management board to support the broader corporate communications and public relations needs of the volunteer-led organisation.

Her day job sees her lead the UK marketing activities for Nedbank Private Wealth, which she joined in January 2019. She brings to the table over 22 years of communications and experience in financial services in Asia, Europe and the UK, primarily in investment and wealth management.

Aside from her support for WIBF, Karen is an ambassador for Insuring Women’s Futures and a member of the board of trustees for International Children’s Trust – a charity focused on helping street kids by partnering with local organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Anna Lane, WIBF President and Alice Gaskell, Director of Strategy nominated Karen and said,

“Karen has put in so much work into things that were not always directly her responsibility like our candidate information pack for recruiting Management board positions and into the WIBF Jobs Taskforce. She is a giver and is having a real impact on everything she touches.

Karen has been incredible with her work on the PIMFA Award entry, the regulatory response to the FCA/PRA/BoE D&I paper and all of the work on the Recognition of Achievement event. Just outstanding. She has raised the bar exponentially in the way that WIBF communicate and position themselves externally. She is positioning us as the powerful, credible voice we have always wanted to be”
