EMEA CEO

As Citi’s Chief Executive Officer for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Jim Cowles has responsibility for c. 23,000 employees across the region as well as being Global Co-chair of the Citi Women’s Affinity.

As Global Co-chair, Jim has been instrumental in setting clear goals and objectives aimed at tackling the areas most likely to drive change towards gender parity, while embedding senior leader accountability for achieving results. These include focusing on key decision points of hiring, promotion and retention, underpinned by a strong culture of inclusion and data driven metrics to ensure effective measurement of progress.

While Jim has established a longer-term strategy, we have already seen our regional metrics improve with the highest number of female Managing Director promotions in 2018. This milestone takes Citi one step closer to achieving the 30% gender target in EMEA senior management roles by 2025, which was proudly outlined as part of Citi’s commitment to the UK Women in Finance Charter.
