We asked Elizabeth to go back to the year 2000 to recall winning the WIBF Award for Achievement. This is what she told us…

If you were with me in 2000, I was sitting at the WIBF Awards Lunch in the prestigious ballroom of the Hilton Hotel in London, amongst the 450 guests at this exciting event. There were so many amazing nominees that I had no expectations other than enjoying a wonderful lunch and meeting like-minded women. On the stage, the WIBF President started addressing the audience.

As the nominees were being read out, I could feel the excitement building inside myself. The WIBF President then began to describe the winner and all that she had achieved during the year. My heart starting racing and my mind was a whirlwind of disbelieve when I began to realise that I knew the person the speaker was describing. A voice in my head cried out “Oh my god, they’re talking about me!”

As it started to sink in, I was overjoyed and so grateful to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation for all my hard work and commitment which for so many years had gone unnoticed. Receiving the Award for Achievement 18 years ago has been a milestone in my career and has helped me to achieve new heights of success.

I subsequently moved to Singapore and established a wealth management business taking it from a note pad and pen to a fully operational entity.

In 2017 I was kindly invited to attend the Awards Lunch as a past winner, which I was so pleased to accept. It is amazing to see how far WIBF has grown over the last 20 years and how the Awards Lunch has developed into a huge event.

I still feel proud to be part of WIBF and to be a past winner is just an amazing achievement which is with you forever. If you know a colleague or friend who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding accomplishments, then I strongly recommend that you to nominate them for an award.

Even if you are not inclined to make a nomination but you support WIBF and the empowerment of women in our industry, then I encourage you to attend the Awards Lunch. It is a great way to show your support for WIBF and an excellent networking opportunity. I hope to see you there.
