Our 2020 awards – who won, etc.

23rd Annual Awards for Achievement

Original slated for June 2020, the pandemic forced the WIBF team to postpone the event to March 2021 and stage it virtually. While the luncheon had become part of the calendar, the opportunity to open up the event to more people (695 people attended) and allow those not working in London meant the event was a hit.

The event also closed off WIBF's 40th anniversary celebrations as the organisation honoured the achievements of four individuals and a team for their work promoting diversity and gender equality in banking and finance.

Hosted by Kate Thornton, broadcaster and journalist, the (virtual) event attendees heard a keynote address from Andy Haldane, Chief Economist at the Bank of England, as well as short speeches by our patrons Dr Heather Melville OBE and Iris Bohnet. The event also saw an interview with Kristine Braden, Head of Europe and CEO, Citigroup Global Markets Europe, who represented our headline sponsor, Citi.

WIBF pledged to continue its work at a time of substantial change for women working in the financial services sector.
