What are the unconscious ways women undermine or sabotage their careers? Interviews of 1000 female executives in 2010 (from top US Fortune 500 organisations) found the top 3 were: 1. Work too hard 2. Do the work of others/take on low profile assignments 3. Fail to capitalise on relationships or follow them up Increasing your visibility is not just about hard work.
How does fitness apply to your 'personal brand'? How can it help you achieve your career goals? Women in Banking & Finance is delighted to welcome Gavin Barry, a personal trainer who works with professional women to ensure they are fit, focussed and perform well at work both physically and mentally. Did you know that domestic abuse affects 1 in 4 women in the UK?
Do you think you could recognise if one of your colleagues, family or friends were in trouble?
WiBF Bristol has teamed up with Women's Aid, a national charity helping over 250,000 women and children each year. Women's Aid will 'blow the whistle' on domestic abuse and provide some practical guidance on recognising the signs and what you can do to help.
It's important for you to know that it's becoming more and more common to Google names of individuals before considering a meet. What can a potential Client, Employer or Employee find out about you when they Google your name? Your LinkedIn profile will rise to the top of search results letting you control the first impression people get when searching for you online.
Presenting Yourself in Interviews - Ticking the Right Boxes New Trend: Competency Interviews! Behavioural Interviews! • Are you aware of how major organisations make their selection decisions? • Do you present your prior accomplishments in the most favourable way? • Are you applying for a new job in your organisation that requires you highlight your competencies? • Have you identified what your most outstanding skills and talents are?
Dr. Sarah Rutherford will conduct a workshop using the findings in her new book, ‘Women’s Work, Men’s Cultures’ – Overcoming Resistance and Changing Organisational Cultures. The current vogue for explaining away women's lack of power in organisations through "differences" or 'choice' fails women, and is a strong example of the backlash that exists against the recent inroads women have made in public life.

Women are securing more senior marketing and communications roles in financial services. They are succeeding at promoting their agenda for equal opportunities, status and remuneration. Does this gain for women equal a loss for men? Has the Diversity agenda marginalised men? Men are expected to support Diversity Initiatives because they are good for business. Yet few companies point our how they are good for men, personally and professionally. While some men willingly embrace gender initiatives, other men reject or resent them. Some men seek equality for themselves.
