Speaker - Lena C Wilson, Chief Operating Officer Scottish Enterprise

Lena Wilson is the Chief Operating Officer of Scottish Enterprise, responsible for all regional, national and international service delivery which contributes to an overall competitive business environment for Scotland.

Her early career was spent in Production and Quality Management in the Electronics industry after which she joined the Scottish Development Agency (now Scottish Enterprise) as part of their Management Development programme.

After spending 5 years in Locate in Scotland on Asia and North American teams and as Head of Research, Quality & Special Projects she joined Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley in 1994 as Director of Development and was promoted to Director of Operations and Deputy Chief Executive in 1996.

Seconded to World Bank in 1998 for 2 years as senior Investment Advisor to the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency she worked in over 20 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia advising governments on economic development strategies with particular emphasis on the conditions necessary for the attraction of FDI.

Lena returned to Scottish Enterprise in 2000 as Senior Director of Customer Relations, in 2005 she was appointed Chief Operating Officer.

Non executive appointments include her being a Board Member of the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust, a Strategic Board Member of Scottish athletics and a Board Member of the Tartan Clef Foundation (Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland). She has also held non executive roles in Arts and Leadership organisations.

Outside interests include keeping fit, live music and the Arts, spending time with her family and travel.
